Kraven the Hunter is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, the character made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in August 1964. Born Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff, he is a Russian aristocrat and big-game hunter who seeks to prove himself as the world's greatest hunter by capturing Spider-Man, whom he considers the ultimate prey.
Driven by a twisted sense of honor and a primal code, Kraven relies on a mystical serum that grants him enhanced strength, speed, and senses, making him a physical match for Spider-Man. Unlike many of Spider-Man's technologically or scientifically driven foes, Kraven's power set is rooted in ritual and nature, often employing poisons, traps, and a bestial fighting style. His obsessive pursuit of Spider-Man culminated in the critically acclaimed 1987 storyline 'Kraven's Last Hunt' by J.M.
