Tales to Astonish is a Marvel Comics anthology series that debuted in August 1959, initially featuring science fiction and horror stories before transitioning to superhero tales. In issues #27 (September 1962) and #34-35 (April-May 1963), Ant-Man—scientist Hank Pym—was introduced, a genius who invents particles enabling him to shrink to insect size while retaining strength, battling villains like the Eraser and Egghead. Later, in issue #49 (December 1963), thief Scott Lang debuted as the second Ant-Man after stealing Pym's suit. These stories established the dual legacy of the character, blending heist elements, espionage, and high-concept science.
The comic's shift to superheroes helped define Marvel's Silver Age, contributing to the interconnected universe that revolutionized comics.
