Misery (novel)

Misery is a psychological horror novel written by Stephen King. It tells the story of Paul Sheldon, a successful novelist who crashes his car in a remote area during a winter storm and is rescued by Annie Wilkes, a former nurse who claims to be his number one fan.

As Sheldon recovers, he discovers that Wilkes is obsessively devoted to his Misery series of novels and is horrified that he killed off the main character in the final book. The novel explores themes of obsession, isolation, and the volatile relationship between a creator and their audience, transforming a rescue into a claustrophobic nightmare of captivity.
