'Once Upon a Deadpool' is a unique and playful reimagining of the 2018 blockbuster 'Deadpool 2,' specially edited to be family-friendly for the holiday season. The film takes the core story of the R-rated sequel and wraps it in a framing device that pays direct homage to the classic 1987 film 'The Princess Bride.' In this new footage, a kidnapped Fred Savage is forced to listen to Deadpool read from a storybook, recreating the iconic bedside scenes from the beloved fantasy movie.
The original 'Deadpool' character was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, first appearing in Marvel Comics' 'The New Mutants' #98 in 1991. The Merc with a Mouth quickly became famous for his irreverent humor, tendency to break the fourth wall, and extreme violence.
