📺 Muppet Babies (1984)

Muppet Babies is an animated spin-off of Jim Henson's classic variety series The Muppet Show. The concept originated from a dream sequence in the 1984 film The Muppets Take Manhattan, where a young Miss Piggy imagines the Muppets as toddlers. The positive audience reaction led to the creation of this Saturday morning cartoon, which debuted just two months after the film's release.

The series reimagines the familiar Muppet characters as infants living together in a large nursery under the watchful eye of a mysterious, never-fully-seen Nanny. Episodes typically blend real-world nursery adventures with elaborate flights of imagination, as the babies use their creativity to transform everyday situations into grand adventures, often incorporating clips from classic films and pop culture. The show was a massive critical and commercial success, running for eight seasons and winning multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.

A CGI reboot of the series, also titled Muppet Babies, premiered on Disney Junior in 2018 after Disney acquired the Muppets franchise. The 1984 original remains beloved for its clever writing, gentle humor, and the way it introduced a new generation to the Muppets.
