Alien: Romulus

Alien: Romulus is a sci-fi horror franchise set in the Alien universe originally created by Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon. The first film (2024), directed by Fede Álvarez, takes place between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), following a group of young space colonists who scavenge a derelict space station only to encounter the deadly Xenomorph. The film returns to the claustrophobic horror roots of the original, emphasizing suspense and practical effects over the philosophical themes of later entries.

A sequel is currently in development. The franchise explores the dark corners of the Alien universe, expanding on the mythology of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the eternal struggle between humans and the perfect organism. Álvarez's approach emphasizes the horror elements that made the original film iconic, while introducing new characters and scenarios that fit within the established timeline of the larger franchise.
