La oficina is the Mexican adaptation of the iconic British mockumentary The Office, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Premiering on Amazon Prime Video on 13 March 2026, it represents the fourteenth international version of the franchise and the second Spanish-language iteration, following the earlier Chilean adaptation. The series transplants the familiar workplace comedy formula to the Aguascalientes branch of the fictional Olimpo Soaps company.
The show stars Fernando Bonilla as JerΓ³nimo Ponce III, the regional manager and heir to the company, who embodies the same well-meaning but socially oblivious boss archetype made famous by David Brent and Michael Scott. He is joined by Fabrizio Santini as Memo Guerrero, a sales representative and office prankster, and Elena del RΓo as Sofi Campos, the head of customer service. The series retains the mockumentary style of the original, complete with direct-to-camera interviews and the awkward silences that define the franchise's comedy.
As with other international adaptations, La oficina localizes the humor and workplace dynamics for a Mexican audience while preserving the universal themes of office drudgery, petty power struggles, and the desperate search for meaning in a corporate environment. The show was well-received enough to earn a renewal for a second season just one month after its debut, in April 2026.
