About this title
Hawaii Five-0

Hawaii Five-0 (2010) is a reboot of the classic police procedural Hawaii Five-O, which originally aired on CBS from 1968 to 1980. Created by Leonard Freeman, the original series starred Jack Lord as Detective Captain Steve McGarrett, the no-nonsense head of an elite state police task force operating in Hawaii. The 2010 version, developed by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Peter M. Lenkov, modernized the concept while keeping the core premise intact โ€” a special major crimes task force operating under the authority of the governor of Hawaii.

The reboot starred Alex O'Loughlin as Steve McGarrett (reimagined as a Navy SEAL turned task force leader) and Scott Caan as Danny "Danno" Williams. The updated series refreshed character dynamics and storylines for contemporary audiences while paying homage to its predecessor, retaining the iconic theme music and the famous catchphrase "Book 'em, Danno!" The show ran for ten seasons on CBS from September 2010 to April 2020.

Notably, the 2010 series existed in a shared fictional universe with fellow CBS reboots MacGyver and Magnum P.I., all developed by Peter M. Lenkov and collectively referred to as the "Lenkov-verse." The shows featured crossover episodes that created an interconnected television franchise across multiple series.
