About this title
The Batman vs. Dracula

The Batman vs. Dracula is a 2005 direct-to-video animated film that serves as a feature-length spin-off of the 2004 animated series The Batman. The film pits the young Dark Knight against the legendary vampire Count Dracula, who arrives in Gotham City and begins building an army of the undead. The story draws loose inspiration from the 1897 Bram Stoker novel Dracula and the DC Elseworlds comic Batman & Dracula: Red Rain, blending gothic horror with the sleek, modern aesthetic of the television series.

In the film, Dracula's body has been transported to Gotham Cemetery after his supposed destruction in Transylvania. When the Penguin inadvertently resurrects him, Dracula hypnotizes the villain into serving as his daytime guardian while he preys upon the citizens of Gotham. The Joker also becomes entangled in the plot, leading to a chaotic alliance of Batman's enemies under the vampire lord's control. Batman must use his detective skills and technological arsenal to combat a supernatural threat unlike any he has faced before.

The movie features the voice cast from the series, including Rino Romano as Batman, and was released on DVD in October 2005 as a companion piece to Christopher Nolan's live-action Batman Begins. It later made its television debut on Cartoon Network's Toonami block. While it exists within the continuity of The Batman animated series, the film stands alone as a darker, horror-tinged adventure that explores how a scientifically-minded hero confronts a genuinely mystical adversary.
