About this title
The Adventures of Batman

The Adventures of Batman is an animated television series produced by Filmation that originally aired as part of the hour-long program The Batman/Superman Hour on CBS in 1968. The series consists of 12-minute Batman segments, each featuring a complete story, with the show's 34 episodes typically including two such segments per broadcast. The following year, in 1969, the Batman segments were repackaged and aired as a standalone half-hour series titled Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder.

The voice cast features Olan Soule as Batman and Casey Kasem as Robin, both of whom would reprise their roles in later animated series such as Super Friends. Jane Webb voices Batgirl and Catwoman, while Ted Knight provides narration and voices several villains including the Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and the Scarecrow. Larry Storch voices the Joker. The series' animation style is typical of Filmation's limited animation approach, but it remains fondly remembered for its faithful adaptation of the Batman comic book characters and its memorable vocal performances.

The Adventures of Batman was a significant stepping stone in the character's animated history, bridging the gap between the 1966 live-action Batman series and the later Super Friends era. The show's popularity led to crossovers with Scooby-Doo and the eventual creation of a direct follow-up series, The New Adventures of Batman, in 1977. The series has been released on home video in various formats, including VHS compilations in the 1980s and 1990s, and remains a nostalgic favorite among fans of classic superhero animation.
