'Return of the Jedi' is a 1983 American epic space opera film directed by Richard Marquand from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas, the third theatrical release in the original Star Wars trilogy. Among its many set pieces is the forest moon of Endor, where the Rebel Alliance encounters the Ewoks, a species of small hunter-gatherer teddy-bear-like beings who help defeat the Empire. The Endor setting and the Ewok characters proved popular enough to support two live-action made-for-television spin-offs — 'The Ewok Adventure' (1984) and 'Ewoks: The Battle for Endor' (1985) — both directed by John Korty for ABC.
