The Phantom Stranger is a supernatural superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He made his debut in Phantom Stranger #1, cover-dated August/September 1952, created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino. The character is a mysterious figure of immense power, whose origins were deliberately left ambiguous for decades—he was often depicted as a spiritual guide, battling occult and demonic forces, and occasionally serving as an agent of the Lords of Order.
Throughout his publishing history, the Phantom Stranger has been presented as a wanderer who exists outside normal human society, never revealing his true identity.
