Calls (TV series)

'Calls' is a French television series created by Timothée Hochet for Canal+, premiering in 2017 and built almost entirely from audio-only dramatisation: each episode presents a single telephone conversation between two or more unseen characters, supported by on-screen typography and minimal graphic design rather than live-action footage. The Apple TV+ English-language remake 'Calls' (2021), executive produced by Hochet and produced by AMA, retained the audio-only format and the structural conceit of letting the listener's imagination fill in the visuals. Both versions drew on the same Hochet-developed source material, with the 2021 version re-recording the French scripts in English with new Hollywood casts.
