The Judas Contract

"The Judas Contract" is a landmark storyline in DC Comics' The New Teen Titans series, written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George PΓ©rez. It was originally published across Tales of the Teen Titans #42–44 and Tales of the Teen Titans Annual #3 in 1984. The arc is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential Teen Titans stories ever told.

The plot centers on Terra Markov, a young geokinetic hero who has joined the Titans and won the affection of Beast Boy. Unbeknownst to her teammates, Terra is a mole working for the master assassin Deathstroke, feeding him the team's secrets. The story builds to a devastating betrayal that shakes the Titans to their core and forces them to confront the limits of trust and family.

Beyond the central drama of Terra's treachery, the storyline is historically significant for introducing Dick Grayson's new identity as Nightwing, marking his graduation from the Robin mantle. It also debuts Joseph Wilson, Deathstroke's son, who later joins the team as the heroic Jericho. The mature themes, emotional weight, and PΓ©rez's dynamic artwork cemented the story's legacy and made it a frequent touchstone for adaptations across animation and other media.
